Help Save Trevor's Life

Trevor is a 16-month-old Doberman who was surrendered to us in November. This morning, one of our volunteers found Trevor shivering in his bed. We quickly got him warmed up and gave him breakfast with some medicine. He perked up and seemed like his usual self, so we let him into one of our large secure areas. Moments later, another volunteer noticed that Trevor was foaming at the mouth and vomiting. Our Kennel Manager immediately recognised the symptoms of bloat, a life-threatening condition where a dog’s stomach fills with gas and twists, cutting off blood flow and trapping food and gas. Trevor was rushed to the vet, where the condition was confirmed, and he underwent emergency surgery to remove his spleen. Bloat can be fatal if not treated within two hours, so we are incredibly grateful to our fantastic team for helping us get Trevor his treatment so quickly.

Unfortunately, Trevor’s surgery has come with a huge cost of £4500, and as a newly established small charity focusing on raising funds to secure our premises, this unexpected emergency has been heartbreaking. We always put the welfare of our dogs first, and Trevor will receive all the care he needs, but it comes with a significant cost.
