Critical Accident Leg Replacement
Donation protected
Michael is a currently a graduating senior, who attends Michigan State University. About 3 weeks ago he was in an tragic automobile accident, which left him in critical condition. It was a miracle that Michael did not die in the accident, seeing how much blood he lost and the damage that occurred. During the accident, his left leg and right hand were smashed in the metal. The fire department had to come and use the jaws of life cut the car open and get Michael out. The paramedics did not have the proper equipment nor the time, to get him to the hospital without him dying because of the rate that he was bleeding out and the condition of his body. With this being said, air support had to be called in. The only Hospital in the area that had a Trauma One Burn Unit that could save his life was U of M Hospital. A helicopter (Air Support) was called in to help save his life. His body was in such critical condition that they had no choice but to perform surgery on the helicopter or else there would be a slim chance that he will survive. So, his left leg was amputated. His right hand was in such bad condition, that they had to reattach three of his fingers.
His index, middle, and ring fingers were barely hanging on by veins and skin. After arriving at the hospital, and recovering from the anesthesia that was given to him, Michael finally found out the extent of his accident. He found out that his leg had been amputated, along with the fact that his femur had been shattered; this is not to mention the fact that his pelvis was also shattered and that he suffered some brain damage. Michael is a criminal justice major at MSU, who was planning on starting the police academy after graduating in May 2016. With this happening to him this has slowed down the chances of him actually achieving his goal tremendously. We are asking for your help, to help fund a prosthetic leg that would be adequate for him to return to mobility and a healthy lifestyle. This will hopefully allow him to get back physical and being able to join the police academy and the force to help make our society better. Before the incident Michael was a very active young man. His positive attitude while currently still in the hospital, is helping all of his friends and family keep smiles on their face. He is from a single-parent household, from which his mother is currently unemployed. It is a shame that something like this had to happen to a person who was actively working his way towards a great career, with a degree from a prestigious University. He is currently still at the University of Michigan hospital recovering from this critical accident. Being someone without health insurance, him and his family are currently struggling to find a way to pay for the prosthetic leg that might make all of the difference in his future. We are asking for your support to help make this young man's dream come a reality. #Support #MSUSPARTAN
