Zach Petrie - Lahaina Fire Relief Fund
Donation protected
On August 8, 2023, a mixture of hurricane-force winds, unusually low humidity, and drought led to devastating wildfires that ignited and spread rapidly throughout West Maui. The town of Lahaina experienced the extremes of these fires destroying nearly all businesses, homes, and the harbor, leaving residents homeless and without resources or any belongings.
This fundraiser is for our son, Zach Petrie, who lived and worked in Lahaina, Maui. He was at work that morning when he was told to evacuate and was not able to return to his house to pack anything. Thankfully, he is safe and unharmed. However, his house in the heart of Lahaina burned to the ground, along with all of his possessions.
Zach works as a first mate running sailing charters with Trilogy Excursions in Lahaina, where he has worked for the past 2 years. At this point in time, his income/employment is uncertain, as well as where he will live. He loves the community, the island, and his Maui Ohana. Each day since he was evacuated, he has been helping others by volunteering in the relief effort with rescue and supply operations.
All funds will go directly to Zach to be used for food, clothing, accommodations, and other essentials as he figures out his next steps. Please consider donating whatever you can to help support Zach through this transition and tries to rebuild his life on Maui.
There are many families and people in need in West Maui.
Please also look into other community relief efforts if you feel called to do so ❤️.
Thank you for your ongoing thoughts, prayers, support, and love. It means so much to Zach and our family.
