Zach Thompson was diagnosed with Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma, a type of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, on August 30, 2022 at Emory. He is at Stage 4A2, meaning the cancer is in Zach’s skin, blood, and lymph nodes. This diagnosis came after 3+ years of multiple doctors, diagnoses, and medications failing. He started chemotherapy in November, showed early improvement, but started to plateau in January. He had single radiation treatment on his hands, feet, and face in February. His team at Emory felt it would be best to get a second opinion at MD Anderson in Houston, TX. We went for the initial consultations in mid March. Ultimately Zach will start a clinical trial and total skin radiation to get him to complete resolution of disease getting him ready for a stem cell transplant. We have made the extremely difficult decision to move to Houston temporarily in order to pursue Zach’s best treatment plan. We are thinking we will be in Houston at least a year. We will be moving in a camper so that our pets can travel with us.
