The journey is real, the fight to heal!
Zach Alvarez was diagnosed with leukemia, T-cell ALL, on February 9, 2017. Zach is a 14 year old, fun loving, middle school student at Scott Middle School in Denison, TX, where he plays football, basketball, soccer, and participates in track and field. Zach is also member of the student council. He is a very talented soccer goalie and has played the last 6 years for AYSES Soccer Club in McKinney, TX. He is the goalkeeper of the AYSES 02 Boys Gold team coached by Sammy Olali. He is an active member of Sherman Bible Church in Sherman. At school, Zach is a Jacket Buddy, working with and mentoring special needs children and volunteering with Special Olympics.
Zachary’s treatment plan is extensive. He spent over two months at Children’s Hospital in Dallas. He will receive chemo treatments once a week for the next 8 months at home. If treatment goes as planned, he will then be able to return to school and will continue chemo treatments once a month for 2.5 – 3 years.
Zach is the son of Marc and Laurie Alvarez of Sherman, TX. Marc is a 5th grade language arts teacher at Bolin Elementary in Allen, TX and Laurie is a 3rd grade teacher at Houston Elementary in Denison, TX. Zach has a younger sister, Lani Grace. The medical costs alone that the family is going to incur are significant. A donation in any amount will help Zach Attack Fight Back!
(Shown with the quilt are Luanne Sbarbaro, quilt artist, and Rachel Ramer, leukemia survivor. Both are Scott Middle School teachers.)
Please share with all of your friends and help Zach! All donations are appreciated!
