Zachary Goodwin Children Education Fund
Donation protected
My dear friend Tara Goodwin lost her husband of nearly 20 years suddenly on Wednesday May 19th. Together they share 4 beautiful children (Torey 17, Ashlynn 14, Sylas 13 and Zayden 12). Tara and the family are beyond devastated and heart broken from this sudden loss. Zach was a wonderful husband and father he loved his family more than anything in the world.
The amount of medical and funeral expenses is overwhelming. Please consider donating if you are able to do so. We are so very grateful for every donation during this difficult time. All the money will be given to the Goodwin family.
If you are able please consider signing up and providing dinner for the family.

Zachary's Obituary posted below:
Zachary Robert Goodwin, 48, of Billings, MT passed away unexpectedly on May 19th. Zach was born on September 20th, 1972, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Robert and Donna Goodwin. He spent his childhood years in and around Atlanta, Georgia before returning to Fort Wayne for his senior year of high school. He met his future wife, Tara Sorlie, in April of 2000 while she was visiting a high school friend in Fort Wayne. He moved to Southern California where Tara was teaching. They were married in Billings, MT November 10, 2001. They started their family in California with the birth of their first daughter, Torey and then relocated to Billings where they welcomed their second daughter, Ashlynn. Their two sons, Sylas and Zayden, completed their family. Zach was nervous when their first child arrived but quickly settled into the role of being a father and became a loyal family man and loved his children more than anything. He was an adoring dad and loved doing the girls’ hair, shopping for the kids’ clothes birthday and Christmas gifts, and just taking care of them. He attended or coached every sport and activity the kids pursued.
Zach enjoyed living in Montana and the outdoor adventures that came with it including fishing, canoeing, camping and hiking. He spent his time ‘snugging’ with the kids or their cat, woodworking, doing home renovations and taking long car rides and exploring the mountains. He attempted gardening and was semi-successful. He was always trying new things and worked to improve himself by earning his master’s degree. He liked to swim and go to the gym with Torey. He enjoyed taking his sons camping and he loved watching the kids’ softball and baseball games, recording them and taking pictures as a hobby. Zach was a salesman for the first 20 years of his adult life and wanted a change. Most recently he was an Account Manager at Century Link and was due to start a similar job with VisionNet this past Monday. Zach will be forever remembered for his loving, humorous and adventurous ways. He leaves behind his enormous amount of love and his family has sent him home to Jesus with all of theirs.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 20 years, Tara, adoring children Torey, Ashlynn, Sylas, and Zayden, his parents, Bob and Donna Goodwin (Fort Wayne, IN), sister Angie, brother Todd and sister Marcy, mother and father-in-law, Mark and Lanette Sorlie (Billings, MT), sister-in-law Natalie (Andy) Hill, nephew Brady and niece Kaylie Hill (Naperville, IL), brother-in-law Brandon Sorlie (Brooklyn, NY). He was preceded in death by his favorite dog Zoe.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, May 24 from 3 pm - 8 pm at Dahl Funeral Home, 10 Yellowstone Avenue, Billings, MT. Family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Zachary’s life at Faith Chapel, 517 Shiloh Road, Billings, Montana, on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at 10 am followed by a Reception. Burial will take place at Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to his children’s education funds and expenses at the Goodwin Children Education Fund, Yellowstone Bank, 1511 Shiloh Road, Billings, MT 59106 or by contributing online at https://gofund.me/9b5c7ee6.
