Zack Cardenas got his kidney transplant!

My name is Jamie Ferreira and I am fundraising for my brother Zack Cardenas, his partner Lisette La Framboise and son Henry.

My brother has had kidney problems since childhood and in the last few years he went into kidney failure and was put on dialysis, while he was awaiting a kidney donation. Zack received a call this past Monday (October 23rd) morning that he was at the top of the list and they had a kidney available for him! While we are so excited for him to have a new lease on life, it is not without the recognition and sadness that someone else has passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family that lost a loved one and we thank them for their choice to donate life.

Zack will be out of work for two months at least while he recovers. Zack is the sole provider for his family currently. This fund raiser is to cover bills, food and regular life expenses. He also will have to make many trips to the hospital for follow up appointments and it is a bit of a drive so there will be extra costs with transportation. Zack and family were in the process of finding a reliable vehicle this week and the loss of income for two months will hinder that process.

My brother Zack is the most kind, loyal, loving person you could ever meet. He is an amazing friend to everyone, and is always there if you need something. He is also one of the hardest working men I know. Even being in kidney failure and doing dialysis at night he works 11 hour days often to support his family. Lisette cares for their son Henry who is the light in their life. They are amazing people and I hope we can help ease some of their stress so they can focus on Zack’s healing during this time.
