Zac’s Fox Family

We are raising money to enhance our beautiful 5 year old, Zac’s, quality of life. Zac has had developmental delays since he was born and was diagnosed with FOXG1 Syndrome 1 week before he turned 3. FOXG1 Syndrome is a rare neuro-developmental disorder caused by a mutation of the FOXG1 gene, which impacts brain development and function. This severe condition is characterised by seizures, inability to control body movements, and lack of speech. While the spectrum of abilities is quite broad depending on the exact genetic mutation, many children cannot walk or talk, and they struggle to communicate their most basic daily needs.

 

We have decided to fund raise to give Zac the quality of life he deserves. We are grateful for the services and equipment we receive through the NHS and Local Authority but there just aren’t enough funds in the pot to help Zac reach his full potential.

 

We’re so grateful for the amount we have raised so far,  which has enabled us to get an all terrain wheelchair, a walking frame, and comfortable seating for home, and amazingly £8,000 for an eye gaze communication device, and that’s all thanks to you!

 

Our next fundraiser target is for a suitable bed for Zac, as we’ve been told he falls into a grey area for funding through the local authority, Zac ideally needs a profiling bed with sides to keep him safe and secure in the night, and enable us to lift and hoist him safely as he gets heavier and taller. The bed can also be used for changing/dressing which would be a huge help to our backs! 

Any money raised will be spent on improving Zac’s quality of life. He’s the happiest little boy who deserves to be given an opportunity to reach his full potential. The bigger Zac gets, the harder it is to give him the quality of life he deserves on our own, but we will never stop trying.
