Zak Attacks Cancer

Zak has been a devoted member to the Ontario Provincial Police for 6 years and has spent the past 10 years being a proud volunteer for the Big Brothers and Big Sisters organization. But more than that Zak is a loving Husband, family member and friend. For those of you who know Zak, you know him as the happy, fun-loving guy with that big smile. He's a person that people want to surround themselves with. His generosity and genuine love for people has had a greater impact than he knows. Zak is genuinely one of the kindest, and most caring person you'll ever meet.

Back in November 2022, at 28 years old, Zak's life took an unexpected turn when he was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. It hit him, his wife of 9 years, and his family & friends like a ton of bricks. Despite never fitting the typical profile for this disease – having never smoked, drank very little, never touched drugs, and being incredibly dedicated to physical health, – this diagnosis blindsided him in every sense.

Since then, Zak has been on a rollercoaster of treatments – four different chemotherapy regimens, ten rounds of radiation; to which he has been responding well with little side effects – all in the pursuit of a cure. However, the cancer has metastasized from his lungs to his liver, spine, ribs and lymph nodes. Doctors have ruled out surgery as an option.

Zak finds himself standing at a crossroads now, clinging to the hope and faith that there might be another way, an alternative path to healing that conventional treatments have yet to offer. And that's why he's turning to his community, his supporters, his friends, his family. The financial burden of medical expenses, travel costs weighs heavily on his shoulders. Zak will be traveling to Hope4Cancer for his next steps in seeking out the cure that he desperately desires.

So today, Zak humbly asks for your help. Your generosity and kindness, could be the lifeline that helps him access the treatments he so desperately needs.
