Help Zaliki Heal!

Zaliki is our two-and-a-half year old kitty. She was attacked by a large dog that found its way into our backyard. We were on the scene immediately and she survived, which is in itself a miracle. She's not out of danger: she has a lot of pain from being shaken by her upper chest; she has several small wounds, one of which may require surgery ( a tear under her arm toward the chest); and two hairline fractures that will not require surgery (one shoulder, one tympanum). There is also a structure near her liver that looks like either a hematoma or an abscess. A hematoma will likely dissipate, while an abscess is more difficult. We do not anticipate any traumatic brain or spine injuries, although they are possible.

Zaliki arrived at our home as a tiny kitty on Mother's Day Weekend 2021. She was discovered in the suspension of Neil's Honda and may have come from his workplace, which meant she traveled Beltway 8. She's cuddly and affectionate and adorably cross-eyed. She's a firecracker who loves to play, cuddle and mess with her siblings. Yuri, Bones and Pushkin all miss her.

She's getting excellent care, but it doesn't come cheap. An ultrasound runs $700, a blood transfusion 1,100. It's a few thousand every day. There are meds, tests, her feeding tube, room and board, the wonderful staff at Gulf Coast Animal Hospital and more. Anything you can give helps, even if it is $5.

Thanks for your well wishes, your gifts and your support. We love you and Zaliki would love to be able to give you a cuddle or a nip on the hand in the future if she gets through this. There are no guarantees, but enough has gone well to make us hope.
