Zane Michael Murphy's Medical Costs

Zanes Story:
Autumn & Charlie Murphy are expecting their 4th baby boy, Zane Michael Murphy, due on June 15th.  Zane has 3 brothers, Brendyn, Jayden, and Ryan who is now his guardian angel.
Autumn was diagnosed early on with Placenta Previa, which is the attachment of the placenta to the wall of the uterus in a location that partially or completely covers the opening of the cervix. Bleeding after the 20th week of gestation is the main symptom. If you have Placenta Previa, when the cervix begins to thin & dilate for labor, blood vessels connecting the placenta to the uterus may tear, which can cause severe bleeding during labor and birth putting the mother and baby in danger. Autumn's doctor had prepared her for the possibility of a cesarean section due to this condition. On March 13th, Autumn went to the hospital after she started spotting and had been having recurring headaches. It was determined that she had a sever UTI and was sent home with antibiotics and orders to rest.

The next day, on March 14th, Autumn & Charlie went in to see the specialist and received the news that Zane had Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. CDH occurs when a hole in the diaphragm muscle fails to close during prenatal development causing the organs from the abdomen to migrate into the chest through the hole.
When the abdominal organs are in the chest, there is limited room for the lungs to grow, which prevents the lungs from developing normally.

With Autumn already having placenta previa and now the news of Zane having CDH, she was put on strict 24/7 bed rest and could not be left alone. Since Charlie works nights, they decided to stay with his parents to have help with Brendyn & Jayden.  She was referred to a specialist in Kansas City, MO (about 210 miles from home) for additional testing on Zane and to discuss their labor/delivery plan. Zane will require surgery immediately after he is born to correct the CDH and it is unknown at this time how long he will be in NICU after surgery.

Autumn & Charlie left on March 21st for what they thought would be a one night stay in KC for Zanes testing. Unfortunately, once they arrived in KC, they were in an accident that totaled their car. Aside from some pretty bad bruises, Autumn & Zane were fine, but Charlie broke his hand which may require surgery to insert metal pins.  Autumn was admitted into the hospital for monitoring and shortly after it was discovered that she had developed a blood clot in her leg, which was caused from the bruising in the wreck. The doctors started her on blood thinners through
injections immediately to dissolve the blood clot. Although the injections are needed to dissolve the blood clot, she has to be closely monitored because of them being blood thinners, as blood thinners puts her at an even higher risk of going into early labor due to having placenta previa. She has been released from the hospital, but has to stay in the KC area to be close to the hospital. She is now on even stricter bed rest orders and is not allowed to be alone at all. She also has to continue giving herself injections to continue dissolving the blood clot in her leg.

They are staying with some family that live in KC until she goes back into the hospital for delivery, but Charlie is now unable to return to work and they are not able to come back home for a few more weeks as planned. She is currently at 29 weeks and they want to get her to at least 35 weeks before delivery so Zane will be strong enough for his surgery right after birth. The only vehicle they have with them in KC is now totaled, although their insurance company has graciously provided them with a rental car for the time being, they are 200 miles away from their other 2 boys, and are now having to face possible surgery on Charlie's hand on top of the already stressful and scary situation with Autumn and Zane. Autumn has filed for short term diability, but has been off of work since February 28th and has yet to receive an update on her approval. Charlie has short term disability coverage, but is unable to file for it until after he sees the doctor to get an update on his hand and the doctor is out of the office until April 10th.

This sweet family has been through hell over the last few years and even more so over the last few weeks. Their top priority is keeping Autumn in good health and resting for baby Zane to have a safe delivery, but they have a lot on their shoulders right now, which makes it hard not to worry and be stressed. They are hesitant to ask for help, but during a time like this is when they need their friends, family, and community the most. The doctors and hospital in KC are out of network for both of their insurance policies so they are going to have a large amount of financial stress just from Zanes delivery, surgery, and time in the NICU, not to mention Autumn & Charlie's medical bills and having to purchase a new vehicle.

Please keep their family in your prayers and if you are able to help support, it is deeply appreciated. No amount is too small and no prayer goes unheard. Even during such trying times, Autumn & Charlie have remained humble and thankful for their blessings. If you are unable to help support financially, please consider
showing them how much love & support they have by sharing this and continuing to pray for them.
