COVID-19 BATTLE IN ZANZIBAR NEEDS YOUR URGENT SUPPORT
The COVID-19 pandemic has continued to disrupt and ravage health and economic systems all over the world. Zanzibar, the semi-autonomous archipelago off the coast of Tanzania has not been spared. The number of infections is increasing rapidly with a potential to overwhelm its already weak and fragile health and economic systems if urgent measures are not taken now. Health centers all over Zanzibar are facing acute shortage of materials and equipment to combat this pandemic.
OUR ACTION:
Recognizing the severity of the situation, Zanzibar Diaspora Association (ZADIA), a non-profit 501 c(3) registered organization in the U.S.A., is partnering with Milele Zanzibar Foundation (MZF) and Zanzibar Outreach Program (ZOP), both registered and operating in Zanzibar, to raise funds and offer the well-needed support in the following four focus areas:
1. Protection of doctors, nurses, and support personnel at COVID-19 treatment and isolation centers in Zanzibar (Unguja and Pemba):
> Provision of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks, face shields, goggles, gloves, scrubs, scrub suits, and caps
> Provision of hand sanitizers
2. Provision of livelihood support to needy families of individuals who are placed at treatment and isolation centers in Zanzibar (Unguja and Pemba):
> Provision of food support
> Provision of financial support to help with non-food needs
3. COVID-19 public awareness campaign in Zanzibar (Unguja and Pemba):
> Preparation and distribution of posters and flyers to educate the public on COVID-19 and how to protect themselves.
> Production of audio and video clips for distribution in social media, local radio and TV stations
4. Financial support to Zanzibaris in the United States who’re facing economic hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
OUR APPEAL:
Please support this fundraising effort to help meet our initial goal of $10,000 to save lives of doctors, nurses, and all men, women, and children in Zanzibar. Please send your donation, in any amount, through the following ways:
