East Africa - Orphanage Appeal

East Africa faces a significant orphan crisis, with millions of children losing one or both parents due to factors such as disease, poverty, and social instability. In Kenya, approximately 3.6 million children are classified as orphaned or vulnerable. In Tanzania, official statistics indicate around 1,696,349 orphans, with approximately 36,645 in Zanzibar. Of these, about 24,000 reside in orphanages across the country. Uganda also grapples with this issue, with 12.3% of its children classified as orphans.

In response to this pressing need, Imam Khalid Hussein and Asad Khan are launching a dedicated charity campaign this Ramadan to support orphans in East Africa. The campaign aims to raise funds to provide essential resources such as food, clothing, shelter, healthcare and education to these vulnerable children. By addressing both immediate and long-term needs, the campaign seeks to empower orphans to lead healthier and more secure lives.
