Zayna’s Story Please Help Us Bring Her Home

Thank you for visiting our page.

While on  holiday in Marrake h, Morocco, Angela and I were shocked by the number of stray cats on the streets, many of them malnourished and unkempt. Moved by what we saw, we started feeding as many as possible.
On our last night in Marrakech, we stopped to feed some street cats, and that's when we met Zayna (which means beautiful in Arabic). Or perhaps she found us. She was bedraggled, crying, and showing signs of what looked like cat flu. But what broke our hearts most was her evident suffering. We knew our meal wasn't important at that moment, but saving her was.

I found a cardboard box in a skip, and we took her back to our hotel and asked the reception staff to call a vet. We promised to pay for her treatment and figured we would worry about the cost later.

The vet arrived about an hour later and was wonderful. He examined her in our hotel room bathroom. He confirmed she had a eye infection, malnutrition, dehydration, and, devastatingly, a broken jaw likely from being kicked or run over by a car or moped. This was especially heartbreaking, as we knew that she would not live long without treatment.
We paid the vet for the initial call-out, planned X-ray, and initial treatment of a gastric tube for liquid pain relief, nutrition, fluid, and a three-day stay at the veterinary hospital. But we knew we couldn't put Zayna back on the streets and have decided to adopt her and bring her home to the Isle of Man, where we can give her a safe home she deserves.
When we go on our trips, I regularly post on Facebook to update our friends and family. After I posted about finding Zayna, many people suggested we start a GoFundMe to help with what will be a significant vet and relocation bill.

We will regularly post on Facebook to share updates on Zayna's recovery and journey home.
Any financial support would mean the world to us in helping save Zayna. If by any chance we raise more than needed, we will donate the remainder to a cat sanctuary to help others like her.

Thank you so much for your support, whether through donations, shares, or simply kind words. We can't wait to give Zayna the home she deserves.
Thank you again for looking
