Zaza vs Medical Debt

“When I started all this back in 2022 I never thought it would take this long.”

Hey friends, thanks for reading. I’m raising funds for my dear friend Zahara (Lauren) Schara. Zaza has been struggling with serious mental and physical health challenges for several years.

Back in 2022, as she began to recognize the severity of her illness, she sought treatment in earnest. Since then she’s worked with countless outpatient specialists - doctors, therapists, gastroenterologists, psychiatrists, and dietitians. She’s needed ER visits, hospital stays, and surgical procedures. Her second bedroom looks a bit like a medical supply closet . . .

Even when her path has seemed impossible, Zaza has continued to fight. Thank g*d she’s so dang stubborn. But, while 2024 has brought meaningful progress, Zaza is also facing mounting medical debt with limited income while on long term disability.

It’s never been Zaza’s style to ask for money. She’s scrappy, hard working, and proud of the life she’s carved out for herself. But she’s come to a point in her treatment that feels financially unsustainable. A little help in paying off her medical bills would go a long way in relieving stress and ensuring Zaza can continue to access the care she needs.
