West Star Ranch Animal Rescue

Meet "Roxy," a sweet and loving 8 year old pit bull who is great with small dogs and children. West Star Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada, has been a haven for abandoned cats and dogs like Roxy for 20 years. Established in 1995 by Elsie Dougherty and her family, the Ranch prides itself in being the only Pahrump Valley shelter offering a home to animals that would otherwise be put down. Many of our animals have lived their entire lives at the Ranch. The Ranch is known fondly as the "old dog rescue," and we're proud of that distinction.
The Ranch is now run by Elsie's son, Terry, with the help of a group of dedicated volunteers. Funds to keep the Ranch going come primarily from a small, funky thrift store on the property. The Ranch is aging and it's getting harder to keep things running. Fortunately, Terry is able to fix just about anything, despite the fact that he was injured awhile back when he was called to the aid of some abandoned dogs left in an empty building for several days. The dogs, starving and afraid, attacked, but Terry is recovering and living proof that no good deed goes unpunished!
So we're asking for your help to keep this humble animal sanctuary on its feet. We have decided that the Thrift Store, which is housed in a double wide trailer that has seen better days, must be replaced, and our animal housing upgraded. If you'd like to help, either with a monetary contribution or by volunteering your time and talent, we'd be most grateful.
Many thanks.
