"Team Vicky"
Our beautiful friend, Vicky Alston Jennings has liver and kidney failure and needs a transplant....both organs. She is currently in ICU at the University of Alabama Birmingham hospital. Vicky was taken by ambulance to UAB on Saturday, August 28th to undergo testing and procedures to determine if she is a viable transplant candidate. Currently she is in critical condition due to extensive bleeding that started on Saturday, September 4th when they tried to start her on dialysis.
Due to the bleeding yesterday, Vicky is on a ventilator. Jack just reported that they will be taking her off the ventilator this evening or tomorrow and she will be able to start the dialysis. This is very important. It is a step towards being able to get on the transplant list. That is the goal.
Jack has been by her side for the past 3 months day and night. Vicky has been in and out of the hospital since June (including ICU and the Critical Care Unit). She is fighting for her life. She is strong and determined but she has a long journey ahead of her. Jack has taken time off work to care for Vicky and has traveled to AL to be with her. This is a huge financial burden for their family.
I hope you will join in helping Vicky and Jack. Vicky has done so much for so many people. Now, it is our turn to help her.
May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your field
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
