I am setting this up for a friend and former teammate who has been wrongfully charged with a crime by a politically motivated district attorney who has an affinity for making false accusations against the men and women who swore an oath to serve and protect.

His name is Michael Esposito, who served as a local law enforcement officer for over 6 years. A New York native, after meeting the love of his life, he picked up everything he owned and drove to Georgia to be closer to his wife’s family and began a job in law enforcement with Cobb County. He then took a position with the Alpharetta Police Department where he worked within the proactive crime suppression unit and finished his time in service as a dual purpose K9 handler.

It was during this time that officers were called to a domestic situation on July, 25 2021. During an attempt to detain the suspect in the incident, Officer Esposito deployed his K9 partner Ares after the subject began fighting with officers. As a result, no officers on scene sustained serious injuries.

Later in 2021, Michael, now the father of two beautiful boys, left law enforcement to provide a better quality of life for his growing family. On January 3, 2023, Michael received a phone call from the Fulton County DA’s office advising him he would have felony charges brought against him for his actions.

This egregious overreach is yet another example of one of our nations heroes being unjustly treated because of political motivations.

Because Michael joined the fraternal order of police after the incident occurred, he will be subject to a $15,000 retainer fee for his first hearing at a grand jury. Then an additional $50,000 for criminal defense The consequences of failing to fight the corruption that caused this scenario will potentially result in a husband and father of two being taken away from his family all in the name of politics.
