Cockerell Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Rachel Cockerell is the daughter of Pam and David Doris of Springfield, IL. Her grandparents are Don and Elda Stanley of Ingraham, IL. Rachel graduated from Clay City High School in 1995, she married her high school sweetheart Berry Cockerell (brother of Stacie Lewis) in 2004. They reside in Pleasant Plains, IL and have 3 children Chantz, age 20, Aden, age 14, Olivia, age 13. Berry, works for Schlicht Farms in Pleasant Plains. Rachel has worked for a contracted agency for DCFS for 10 years. The company recently changed contracts so she has no sick or vacation time. While she is off work she will not receive any pay. They are looking into FMLA options. However, after reimbursement to the company
for their family insurance plan each month, it will be about a wash on any money received from FMLA.
Rachel had been having abdominal pain for a month or so, her primary care doctor was dismissing the pain as nothing. She found a doctor to listen and give her a thorough examination and found some areas of concern. It was recommended that she have a hysterectomy so she did Friday, July 7, 2017. The doctor gave them the news that we never expected! Rachel has ovarian cancer. He took a lot of samples to check the stage and see if it has entered her lymph nodes (which we pray it hasn't). We'll know more on that in a couple weeks. The doctor said that no matter what she would undergo aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
During this time Rachel will not be able to work. Not to mention the enormous medical expense they will rack up! Berry will want to be with her as much as possible but he will continue to work as much as he can. They will be entering harvest season soon so he will be working 15-18 hours a day. They still have 2 children at home to provide for, a mortgage, a car payment, and regular monthly expenses as most Americans do! I just ask that if you have any extra money you can spare please donate to this family. They are near and dear to my heart as they are my family. That's one thing, if not one cent is raised we have a tight group of family and friends that will get them through this rough time. Thank You
