Lucas Got Cancer

Donation protected
This is my little brother.  His name is Lucas.  He likes cats, videogames, painting tiny nerd figurines and being a general nuisance.  He recently moved in with his girlfriend and I've never seen him so happy.  He finally found someone who will put up with him.  To all that know him (most especially his big sister,) it's a pretty big deal!

Two and a half weeks ago, my baby brother went in for a follow-up allergy appointment.   He was finding it persistently difficult to breathe and no amount of allergy medications or doctor-ordered steroid shots were doing the trick.  By the end of the day he was told that it wasn't allergies after all but a tumor in his chest.   And not just any tumor!  The kid went BIG!  This grapefruit-sized monstrosity is not only laying on his lungs and heart but it's also snugly wrapped around his superior vena cava.  Now for everyone who doesn't know what the vena cava is (which included me until Google):  a large vein carrying deoxygenated blood into the heart. There are two in humans, the inferior vena cava (carrying blood from the lower body) and the superior vena cava (carrying blood from the head, arms, and upper body).
Obviously, the vena cava is a big deal.  And because the man needs his blood to remain inside of him, it makes his tumor far too dangerous to remove.

Lucas' diagnosis:  Germ Cell Seminoma
Current Treatment Plan:  3 months of Chemotherapy

Lucas has surprised us all with his incredibly positive attitude about the whole situation.
He's taking it all in stride and is just ready to get treatment done and over with!  He's got all of us (his family and friends) to love him and worry over him and flush out his ports but unfortunately, we can't do it all and we're asking for your help!  In this very stressful time, when cancer has invaded his body and turned his entire life upside down, the last thing anyone should be worrying about is how on Earth they will be able to afford treatment!

This is the part where I plead, on behalf of my squirrely, obnoxious, beloved little brother, for any assistance you are able to give!  We will be forever thankful.

And if you are unable to give monetarily, please share!  <3

With love and sincere thanks,
Lauren (sister to cancer guy)
