Mickey’s fight
Donation protected
Hi my name is Amy Axtmann and I’m fundraising for Mickey Lee. She is my sister-in-law and friend. She has a spark for life. She lives in Linton ND. She had a stroke on April 12, 2022. She got to hospital quickly in Bismarck and it resolved. But then she started to have heart issues which continued to worsen. She then also had a stroke of her kidney and began to show signs of liver failure. They believed she would need a heart valve replacement and potential heart transplant. Bismarck began contacting critical care hospitals in Minneapolis and she was air flighted on May 1, 2022 to Fairview. As they were settling her in her room, she began to crash suddenly. She developed blood clots in right arm and leg. They had to either operate or amputate. They were able to operate to remove clots ( no amputation). During operation they put her on external heart (ECMO Machine—Ectracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation). During recovery, she was losing so much blood that they emergently returned to OR to stop bleeding. During 4-5 hour surgery, they were able to stop bleeding but she remains in extremely critical condition. She has been put on dialysis. She continues on complete life support. Her heart is at 5% ejection fraction and not compatible with life. Also, she is not candidate for transplant due to how sick she is and the additional stress on her body. Decision is to have LVAD (Left Ventricular Assistive Device) inserted on Friday morning, May 6th. Her surgery has a 60% survival rate. Without this, Mickey would pass away. We want to give her every possibility to survive, go through rehab, and learn to live with LVAD (she will have this the rest of her life. If surgery and rehab go well, we are looking at them being in hospital/rehab (in hospital) and continued rehab on outpatient basis in Minneapolis. They are looking at a minimum of 3 months in Minneapolis post successful surgery. We are looking to ease the expense of living away from home for this entire process and medical expenses. Any monies left over, will be donated to hospital.
Mickey is a funny, loving, kind person who adores her family. She lives life to the fullest and we want to give her that chance again. She has a strong support system who will be there to assist in recovery.
Thank you for considering assisting our family. We are truly humbled and blessed by all who have been with us on this journey.
God Bless!!
