Thomas Henry Tinken

We are devastated at the loss of Thomas Henry Tinken in the early hours of October 29, 2023.

Thomas went to the hospital on October 13, and shortly after, he was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Causing more problems was the fact that a bit of cancerous material had broken off and blocked his heart, causing heart failure. After surgery to remove the kidney and the blockage in his heart, Thomas deteriorated quickly, and Thomas passed just two days later. Melanie is devastated at the loss of her father.

This leaves Melanie, his only child, to shoulder the responsibilities of tying up his affairs, clearing the apartment, looking after Tom's geriatric cat Leo, and caring for her mother, who is in Long Term Care suffering from dementia. Melanie has to do all of this on her own, since except for her senior aunt, she has no extended family in Canada.

Melanie is looking at the prospect of having to shoulder lawyers fees, for both the estate, and taking power of attorney for her mother. And Leo the cat desperately needs to see a vet. Adding to the burden is the search for a will, which may or may not exist, and if the will cannot be found there will be more burdensome costs for Melanie to bear. It seems every day there are more costs that seem to arise. And with all of this, Melanie still has to keep herself going, fed, and a roof over her head, all while grieving and trying to do what needs to be done with her father’s affairs.

I have created this GoFundMe campaign on Melanie’s behalf in the hopes that you might help in this incredibly challenging time. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will help her with these unexpected end of life costs, to care for her mother, the cat, and settle all of her fathers affairs, and help alleviate the stress that all of this has put upon her while also grieving the sudden loss of her father.
