Zen 4 Zena

Our mom, Zena, went to the hospital on July 25th 2023 for severe back pain. She was there for a few days and in the end, they found a mass on her lung in which the biopsy results that came in on the 29th revealed she has cancer. Our mom has been in pain for many years prior to this suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia so when the results of cancer came back she was completely caught off guard. On Aug 29th she was finally able to get the full work up and PET scan. The results came back on Aug 31st revealing that our mom has stage 4 lung cancer. Her cancer is in 3 different locations. The one spot on her lung (that originally sent her to the hospital) is also on her rib cage and has grown into the bone. The other two spots are on her spinal cord in T3 and T9.

The news has been heartbreaking and overwhelming for our mom and the many people that love and adore her. It is awful to see our mom in this much excruciating pain but we believe she still has plenty more life to live and will get through this! She has amazed us tremendously in the last few weeks because even while experiencing debilitating pain she continues to spread love, light, and positivity. She is working hard to stay as healthy, strong, and as positive as she possibly can right now. Zena has 3 adult children and 3 beautiful grandbabies that so very much want to continue life with her and continue to create beautiful memories, here earthside, for as much more time as we can get together.

If you know our Mom, you know she has not had the easiest life but that she has always continued to spread her contagious smile, laughter, and goofiness around to everyone that she comes in contact with. She is a beautiful, selfless, courageous woman, with a HUGE heart. Our mom would give her last dollar to a person that needed it more than her. She would go to the end of the earth for the people she loves and would give the shirt off her back to a complete stranger.
