Zenú indigenous students from the Mojana
We are 42 indigenous Zenú and disadvantaged students from the region of La Mojana in the department of Sucre in Colombia. A region marked by inequality, poverty, and poor access to services, which in turn faces the consequences of climate change producing long periods of drought and flooding.
Our dream, hand in hand with the National Indigenous Organization of Colombia -ONIC-, is to become professionals in the Professional Programme in Revitalization of Mother Earth, of the Intercultural Indigenous Autonomous University of the Regional Indigenous Council of Cauca - UAIIN-CRIC-, in order to revitalize our territory and culture. We wish through this training project to strengthen our knowledge and ancestral practices of the Zenú people in order to adapt to climate change, weaving relationships in harmony and balance with Mother Earth.
We are asking for donations in money or computer equipment and technological infrastructure that can contribute to our integral formation or allow us to face the different challenges that the pandemic has imposed on us, such as virtual education. We will be informing you periodically about the progress of our training process.
If you want to know more information about the ONIC or the UAIIN-CRIC and the Professional Programme in Mother Earth Revitalisation, visit the web pages: https://www.onic.org.co/ and https://uaiinpebi-cric.edu.co/ , or send us an email to rmt-mojana@uaiinpebi-cric.edu.co.
