Zephyr's Transition Fund

Donation protected
Hi, for those of you who don't know me, my name is Zephyr (he/they) and I am currently 22 years old. I first came out as trans back in January 2022 and since then have adjusted my pronouns every time I felt ready to - being trans can be really scary in a number of ways and giving myself time to feel comfortable at each step was really important to me.

I was meant to be permanently relocating to NYC earlier this year so I delayed medically transitioning - when I moved, everything would undo, any time I had spent on waiting lists would be for nothing, all legal name changes would have to be done again, etc - however it's fallen through for now and I am in the UK for the foreseeable future. It's become clear since I've been back from NYC that I am not coping with this hold on my transition. Honestly, most days I hate myself and I'm just so unhappy all the time. It's the first thing I think about in the morning and my last thought before I fall asleep. I've tried therapy, CBT, mindfulness, meditation, anxiety and depression meds; it doesn't help. Because at the end of the day, it doesn't change the body I'm in or what I think about being in it.

I am not sure if you are aware of the situation that trans people are facing right now but it is incredibly complicated and time-consuming (and so stressful ) to actually get on HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy, i.e. Testosterone or 'T'). There are so many trans people who need help and support right now that the waiting time from GP referral to getting your first consultation is over 24 months. And there are many tests that have to be run after that, with time waiting for the results, before they will prescribe any HRT. Being honest... I don't think my mental health can hold out that long.

I was originally just going to do a gofundme when I was already on T and was preparing for top surgery, however in order to hopefully get on T faster - so I can feel more like myself - a friend suggested I went private to get my HRT and used this as a general transition fund instead. This idea was backed up with support from friends and followers so... here we are.

Without trying to sound like Tesco... every little does help. Even if it's just £1. It makes me that tiny step closer to being truly happy in my body for the first time for as long as I can remember.

If you're still reading at this point, thank you. If you donate and/or share this link, thank you.

I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.
