Help Aaron with Medical and Recovery Expenses

Hi, my name is Andrew, and I am fundraising for Aaron Truman. On Sunday, January 9th Aaron was transported to Henrico Doctors Hospital with fever, shortness of breath, and extreme leg swelling in his left leg. The week prior he had a seemingly normal cold and fever. The cold, fever, and swelling were early warning signs of an infection in his bloodstream that traveled from his leg to his heart and lungs. The infection resulted in clotting that almost cost Aaron his life. Fortunately, Aaron has improved significantly and has been discharged home today, January 27th after 19 days in the hospital. His heart and lungs are clear, and Aaron was deemed stable enough to return home. However, a significant amount of swelling, infection, and pain remains in his leg. Aaron is eternally grateful for the love and support from his family and friends; the care from the doctors and nurses at the hospital; and his life.

Now that Aaron has been discharged, he is focused on his remaining healing and recovery. In Aaron’s current condition, the doctors have not been able to provide a time frame for his complete recovery. Aaron has already had to purchase a series of medical equipment to assist with the transition and mobility. He will require immediate in-home care due to the severity of the wound. There will be on-going primary care, specialist appointments, and eventually physical therapy. Part of the difficulty is the financial unknown surrounding the length of Aaron’s recovery and any new issues that may arise during follow-up Pulmonary, Urology, Cardiology and Primary Care appointments.

Aaron is more than appreciative for the phone calls and messages that he has received. I know that this is not easy for him, and we would not ask unless it was necessary. The funds raised will help cover out-of-pocket costs for medical equipment, transportation, appointments, and continued treatment that insurance won't cover or reimburse. Any additional funds that aren’t used to cover medical expenses will be paid directly to a charity to be selected by Aaron.
