Stand with Bill Zvonek Against Cancer
Donation protected
This is Bill Zvonek. He is a husband, father, son, brother, and co-worker. He excels at all of these! He is a native of Oklahoma, where he was born on the family dairy farm and worked the farm until they lost the farm in the 80’s. He worked construction since age 17 on road crews and eventually made it to project manager for commercial construction. Tragically, I met Bill through a Widows and Widowers support group after we lost our spouses each in our early 30’s. We saw a second chance and married in 1998. Together we raised 2 children together and eventually moved back to my home state of Minnesota. He will tell the Minnesota people, “I stole one of your women folk and brought her back.”
After a serious bout with COVID in 2022, he had nagging back pain. When the pain increased, he was seen for an MRI and found he had Stage 4 metastatic kidney cancer and broke vertebrae in his back. He underwent 10 hours of back surgery to remove the broken vertebrae and has rods and plates in his spine. He couldn’t start cancer treatment for 6 weeks to let the bones heal, as the cancer spread. After 8 months of immunotherapy with pills and infusions, the treatment failed. He is currently on chemotherapy without radiation at this time. He has had to leave his position as a well-respected project manager, in order to continue his treatment. His job benefits are dwindling, and he is too young for Medicare.
We have just found out that another surgery is needed to repair damage to his right hip from the cancer.
I am a 34-year RN and have had to decrease my hospital time to take care of home and family. I have loved my job and started in Trauma Centers for 18 years. I have come to this page to help with medical equipment and bills to make his life easier as he fights the foe.
If you feel you can’t donate at this time, we ask that you keep us in your prayers however you pray. Unused donations will be sent to the American Cancer Society.
Thanking you all in advance for however you can help.
“May the Lord protect and defend you. May the Lord preserve you from pain.”
