Harrison’s Fight

Donation protected

Hello sweet friends!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read about Harrison’s story. Know that if you’re only able to give kind words and healing energy, you are thanked and we are all so grateful for your support.

My nephew, Harrison (Harry) is a happy, silly, creative, athletic kid that just turned five years old in June. He loves games, sports, drawing, playing the piano, and making his family laugh. This month, after lots of testing and biopsies, Harry was diagnosed with osteosarcoma.

Osteosarcoma is the most common histological form of primary bone cancer. It is most prevalent in teenagers and young adults. It is rare for children his age to develop this cancer - this poses Harry with an extra set of challenges because his bones have so much growing yet to do. Harry starts his first round of chemotherapy today, August 14th, 2019.

When the doctors performed the second biopsy, they found that the tumor had weakened his bone and broke his femur close to his hip. He spent 5 weeks in a spica cast (chest to ankle) making it extremely difficult to move. There is a possibility he may end up having this on again after his surgery that is scheduled for December 5th.

Harrison will be having his cancerous bone removed and replaced with titanium. His joint at his hip will be replaced and the top 5cm of his femur. He will always have a limp as the muscles will be affected and his right leg will be shorter than his left leg.

There is an established Facebook group where Harry’s parents have been updating friends and family. If you would like to follow his fight and progress, please join at:

Within this Facebook group, friends and family are offering additional support with meals and home care.

I have created this Go Fund Me to help his Mom (Dayna) and Dad (Alex) with the tremendous costs of Harry’s treatments and home care.

Dayna and Alex have insurance, but with a considerably high deductible. In addition to Harry’s medical  bills, Dayna and Alex also must make many purchases to create a home suitable for a person who’s immune system will be weak due to chemotherapy. There will also be travel expenses as his doctor is an hour away from their home.

If you are able to contribute, in any way, big or small, we thank you so so very much;  all contributions are big contributions - there is no amount too small for it to have a positive effect on Harrison’s family during this incredibly difficult time.

I personally thank you all for the ongoing help and support for my nephew...he has a big heart and the courage to fight this battle with cancer. We all have great optimism that together we will move though this with grace and success. Thank you, for your seeds of hope.

Love,
Karra Silvis
