My name is Robin Becker. In 1995 I was diagnosed with MS. At that time, my daughters were 10 and 7. They're now 30 and 27.
Five years ago, I went to Albany NY for a procedure called CCSVI-chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency. I went in a wheelchair. I had been slowly declining. For 20 years, I used a cane. By 2009, I was in a wheelchair most of the time. The procedure was 'experimental'; it still is. As soon as I woke from the twilight sleep, I had to go to the bathroom. My husband offered to help, but I got up and walked to the bathroom. My hands and feet were warm for the first time in many years.
The effects of the procedure lasted a little more than 2 years; I knew going in that it might happen.
I find myself back in a wheelchair again. The place that I went for the procedure now doesn't take insurance; they want $10,000 in cash up front.
I found a group who will accept the insurance. They're in California. I really think this is my last hope of walking again. I would pay them the 30 percent the insurance doesn't cover-that's $3000. I need airfare and accomodations money; this is a 4 day trip...
I'd love to walk my daughters down the aisle...
