While it is hard to face, Cierra will be starting chemo again soon and is as ready as one could be to embark on the challenge. If you are familiar to her journey than you know she is no stranger to chemo or stem cell transplants and completed treatment in 2013. She will be starting this journey over again with the endpoint being an allogenic stem cell transplant and remission from cancer.
This time it will be different. Between remission in 2013 and her reoccurrence Cierra fulfilled her ultimate dream of becoming a mom. The last 16 months have been pure bliss for Cierra and her husband Ricky but that dream will look a little different with Cierra in the hospital for a month and then needing to relocate to the city to continue to receive treatment for another 3 months. Ideally they would like to stay together as a family but a hospital is no place for a toddler. While Cierra is battling for her health away from home, Ricky wants to battle for normalcy for their young son and take time off work to be with him at home when he is not at Cierras side.
Every young family struggles but this is above and beyond what many young families endure. They say it takes a village; let’s rally around this young family and honor their plight for a strong, loving family and help ease Cierras mind as she goes through such a difficult time.
