I am a friend of the Zheng family and want to share their horrific family tragedy with you, with the goal to raise funds to help support them during this difficult time.
Quan Zheng moved to Virginia last month to work as a chef in a Chinese takeout restaurant, with the hopes of financially supporting his family in New York. On his third day at his new job Quan filled in for the delivery worker, who called in sick. While attempting to make his final delivery of the night, Quan was brutally ambushed, assaulted, robbed, and murdered.
It is believed that a fictitious order was placed to lure Quan out to a location where his assailants were ready to ambush him. As Quan stepped out of his vehicle, he was viciously attacked and robbed. The assailants then jumped into the restaurant’s delivery car and ran over his body, leaving him alone and severely incapacitated. The next day, Quan died from his injuries.
During the assault, the assailants stole Quan’s cellphone and took pictures of the ruthless violence he endured. Unbeknownst to them, these photos were automatically streamed to the Zheng family’s iPad in New York. Initially, his family was confused and didn’t know what to make of the photos. Only later, when they learned of this horrific incident, did they realize they were seeing actual photos of the assault that led to Quan’s death.
That night, Wilson, Doris, and Ryan lost their beloved father, a wife lost her loving husband, a father and mother their dutiful son, and a grandmother her precious grandson. Nothing can ever fill the void in their lives this senseless act of violence has created. Theft and robbery is one thing, but to wantonly kill someone simply trying to do a job and earn a living is incomprehensible and unconscionable.

The investigation is still on-going, without any major developments or arrests. While there is hope that justice will be meted, the Zheng family will regardless never be the same, never be whole again.
Mrs. Zheng's immediate concern is providing for the family and helping them cope with the trauma of the death of her husband. Mrs. Zheng is now left to care for her three children, her two in-laws, and her husband’s grandmother, all of whom live with her in one apartment. She fears she will have a hard time paying the rent, buying basic necessities, and making ends meet.
All contributions will be used to support the family with rent, funeral expenses, and the needs to support all seven family members. Once Mrs. Zheng is able to secure assistance and a full-time job, all remaining donations will be put aside for the children's educational expenses.
