Ziggy Worrell Owusu's Farewell
Donation protected
Welcome to Ziggy's Farewell fundraising page.
Ziggy Owusu's life came to a tragic end whilst out celebrating his 19th birthday with some of his friends, when he was fatally wounded. His untimely death has come to a shock to his family and friends who were also preparing to celebrate his 19th birthday.
Whilst we were not able to celebrate his birthday the way we would of liked; there is some salvation in the fact we can give Ziggy a heartfelt farewell even if we could not celebrate his birthday.
The funeral will take place in the middle of December and any money raised between now and then will go towards the funeral service, casket and other costs associated with Ziggy's Farewell.
Testimony from Hackney Bulls Youth Rugby Club
"Everyone at the club was devastated to learn of Ziggy's tragic death . The coaches and players remember him very well - both for the time he spent with us training and playing on Sunday mornings, but also in particular for his contribution to our tour of Wales a few years ago.
He was an excellent tourist - we have talked about his quirky sense of humour. His ability to get on with everyone and his love of music. Oh, and a number of the boys have mentioned his sense of style!
I coached him during his spell with us - and I remember in particular two things - he could really run, and was almost impossible to stop when we put him into space. And I remember as well his bravery and strength of character on the pitch - he could tackle like someone twice his size.
That is why it is really no surprise to me to learn that he died trying to do the right thing, and put himself at risk for others. We will hold a minute's silence for Ziggy at our next gathering and I and the boys will talk about him often.
Our hearts go out to you and your family at this difficult time"
