Zion Historical Society Shiloh House Renovation

The  City of Zion's moto is "Historic Past,  Dynamic Future".  The symbol of our historic past is the Shiloh House and it needs your help. The Shiloh house was built in 1902 by Dr John Alexander Dowie who founded the town of Zion in 1900.

The Zion Historical Society and this beautiful home has been supported by memberships, fundraisers and rentals. These activities have been greatly curtailed by Covid and our maintenance budget has suffered. This unique, historic home has been deteriorating and the exterior is in great need of repair, particularly the porches which have parts falling off. In 1910 the second and third floor porches were added changing the look and design of the building from its original "Swiss chalet" appearance.

The Zion Historical Society board has voted unanimously to restore the home to its original glory by removing the add on porches and repairing the entire exterior.  The estimate for the removal of the porches and exterior repair is $30,000. We need your help. Please help us save our Historic Past and our founder's home, The Shiloh House.
