As many of you know from our pleas for help in February and March, my mom Karen Kincaid has been in a mental health crisis. Here we are in May and unfortunately we are still struggling to get the situation under control. While we understand there are laws that must be followed, we have been failed by the system several times.
Karen has dealt with mental health issues since she was a teen and has gone through life battling episodes on a cyclic basis. This episode is the worst we have ever seen. It seemed like she was really getting somewhere last fall when she purchased her own home. Little did we know, and if you know anything about mental health, it was going “too well” for Karen. This is when she pulled herself from her meds and the destruction began.
Shortly after purchasing her home, it suffered a flood from a mysterious incident with her cat. It has been all downhill from there. From arguing with the insurance companies, destroying her home, being lost for weeks on end, harassing the neighbors and now being arrested for the seventh time (I think, there’s been too many) now is the time for us to step in legally before it’s too late.
These months of psychosis have taken a huge toll on her. She hasn’t been eating or caring for herself. She spent a short time in the hospital, which unfortunately was not long enough to stabilize.
Please, we are asking to donate what you can so we can seek legal guidance in conservatorship to save what’s left of our mom’s life. Even after this step, it will be a long journey of repairing her home and hopefully not losing out financially on it.
