ALGN Whistler is required by Municipal Bylaws to build a washroom in the unit next to the studio. This may be a long shot but dire situations require creative measures and... I would never ask if it wasn’t an absolute last resort.

After several months of losing sleep, many worldwide situations needing support, exhausting all other financial options and the looming deadline for ALGN’s renewal of their business licence….I woke from a dream of somehow reaching 5000 people giving $5.  Living 60 years as an eternal optimist- I really believe this is possible!! 

Meet ALGN’s Amélie Lavoie, a dedicated, driven, exuberant small business owner who has devoted her life to the art of dance and is determined to bring its many benefits to her beloved community of Whistler B.C.

As a passionate dancer, Amélie has poured her heart and soul into establishing a vibrant dance studio in the Whistler community called ALGN Whistler. For over 2 years Amélie has invested heavily financially and emotionally in her dream, taking out several loans and working tirelessly at a second job to renovate and maintain the studio. Her unwavering dedication has created a space that fosters growth, creativity, and a sense of belonging.

Dance and movement offer numerous advantages including improved physical health, enhanced mental well-being, confidence and an outlet for self-expression. By supporting this studio, you are enabling countless individuals to experience the transformative power of movement and fitness. ALGN Whistler offers classes in Salsa, Heels, Hip Hop. Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, Stretch and Strength, Bachelorette parties, and the studio offers classes in Yoga, Pilates, Private rentals and much more!

ALGN Whistler has exceptional promise to foster connection in the community and Amélie has endless ideas for the possibilities for her studio space.

Amélie has had a dynamic dance history of over 2 decades in the performing and teaching industry. Presently she spends her time teaching over 500 classes at ALGN. There have been over 2000 people who have taken classes since opening in February 2022. Amélie also has a second job cleaning houses to make ends meet because of the expense of her business lease and also having to lease the unit next door for the washroom.

Amélie believes in connecting her community by integrating embodiment and expression through all kinds of movement. She is always extremely generous -offering local gift certificates to her students to support all businesses and charities. She shows devotion, care, grace and kindness to all people. Her goal is to inspire everyone with the exhilarating experience of dance and fitness for confidence, enhanced mental, and emotional well-being and an outlet for self-expression.

Amélie sadly now faces a significant challenge that threatens the continuation of her small business. According to municipal bylaws, ALGN Whistler needs to build a washroom facility to comply with regulations, without which her license will not be renewed. As you can imagine, the cost of construction is substantial, Contractor estimation at approximately $25,000—an amount that Amélie simply cannot cover.

This is where we come in! By contributing to this campaign, we have an incredible opportunity to make a lasting impact on the Sea to Sky community. The funds raised will directly support the construction of a washroom and ensure the continued operation of this fabulous space. By helping her meet this Bylaw requirement, we can empower Amélie to focus on what she does best—sharing the joy and benefits of dance with everyone around her. How amazing would this be if we could ensure she continues to provide a welcoming space for many activities for many future years in the community that she loves!

Note: All funds raised will be directly used for the construction of the washroom facility, following local regulations. Updates will be provided to keep you informed about the progress and impact of your contribution.

Your donation will be allocated towards: Architect and Contractor costs -(a $2500 down payment has been made)

Washroom Construction: Plumbing and ventilation which are presently not available in this area.
