Fighting Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
Donation protected
Hi everyone!
As many of you may know, Taylor was diagnosed with Stage II Hodgkin’s lymphoma in January 2023 just a few weeks after she and John found out they were pregnant. The first line of treatment for HL is a chemotherapy (ABVD) - which thankfully was safe for her to receive while she was pregnant. Taylor received 10 rounds of chemo while pregnant and at 37 weeks gave birth to a healthy baby boy - Lane Chapman Powell on July 24th, 2023.
Now that Taylor was no longer pregnant she was able to get a long awaited PET scan to see how her body responded to the chemotherapy. On August 22nd she received the news that there was still active cancer in her chest and the next steps would be radiation.
Without being 100% confident in this new plan, Taylor thought it’d be best to get a second opinion and seek care at MD Anderson in Houston, TX. After months of dealing with insurance and finances she was finally accepted into MDA and had her first appointment on October 5th.
After meeting with the oncologist at MDA he wants to make sure that the spot in Taylor’s chest is indeed Hodgkin’s lymphoma before beginning any treatments. She has had a repeat PET scan which didn’t give a clear answer on if it’s disease or not, so she will be heading back to Houston on October 19th for a MRI and continued testing.
With this being said; medical bills, insurance costs, travel and lodging expenses have already begun to pile up and will continue to do so as she receives care. John and Taylor have had many people ask how they can help, so this is one way to help ease the burden. There is not a numerical “goal” but every bit does help. Taylor has truly been such a warrior and John has been the best partner during this season. I am so hopeful that this fundraiser will be such a blessing to them and a testimony to just how much they are loved by their family, friends, and community.
Taylor, John, and their sweet babies are all so thankful for the continued support, love, and prayers during this time. I am praying this is a huge success in helping overcome this journey. I know I speak for so many of us in saying how much they are truly loved.
"The Lord is greater than the giants you face." 1 John 4:4
Thank you so much for donating and praying for my very best friend and her family.
Love,
Jeannine.
