I was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer in April 2011, the week of my birthday. I've written about my experience with what I call "The Big See" a few times for Huffpost:

There is a lot of stress associated with this situation, and this year has been the most challenging yet for me in terms of my health. In July I had back surgery for a compressed vertebrae and had to sideline myself from the day to day of working life. I’d been experiencing a lot of back pain for quite some time. Luckily the surgery went well and I’ll be starting physical therapy soon.
Financial stress has been by far the worst byproduct of all, and I have quite a few medical bills hanging over my head in addition to ongoing medical expenses and a high insurance monthly bill (I see my oncologist once a month for treatment, and have scans every three months). At the urging of many many friends and well wishers I am setting up this page for contributions, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I really hate asking for help. but it's time for me to admit that I need it. And to those who have been cheering me on - THANK YOU. All my love.
