Help Avery Kick Cancer #TeamTate

My incredible, determined, and loving dad, Avery Tate, is in the fight of his life. THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER!

A lot of you know dad from around town. He was born and raised in Forsyth County, GA and lived all his life on Dr. Bramblett Rd until three years ago. Most of you may recognize him from Tate’s Garage, also on Dr. Bramblett Rd, next door to the house dad grew up in. His dad, my grandfather, Jimmy Tate, owned & operated that garage and drove a school bus for Forsyth County for many years. My mom, Keshia Tate (formerly Williams), also grew up in Forsyth County. Most of you may recognize her from Little Acres on Spot Rd. Mom worked there for two decades, teaching and caring for children and served as the director before her retirement.

On January 8, 2022, I gave birth to my first child also mom and dad’s first grandchild, James Russell. As it always goes with a new baby in the family, we all fell head over heels in love with him! Mom officially retired to be at home with James when I went back to work. Dad continued to work at Herc but spent all his free time at my house with James. They became best friends! My brother Aaron was able to come home on a short leave from the Marines to meet his new nephew and visit all of us. Life was perfect!

Less than two months later, on February 28, 2022, dad was unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer with metastasis to the bone, brain, and liver. And just like that, we were devastated, and our world came crashing down. The diagnosis was a complete shock to us, and we still sometimes struggle to believe it. His doctors tell us that the cancer is treatable but not curable; however, true to his character, Dad immediately became determined to fight this evil disease, and the entire family rallied behind him in support.

We want to say THANK YOU! Thank you for all the prayers, well wishes, and support. It means more to us than you will ever know. We also ask for your continued prayers as the new scans approach and as we continue the journey for positivity, healing, and life. We have faith that God, the Great Physician, will CURE and remove all cancer from dad’s body. Please help us move mountains!

Another difficult part of this journey is that Dad hasn’t been able to work since February and isn’t well enough to return just yet. Along with the income reduction associated with disability, there have been and will continue to be an extraordinary amount of medical expenses.  If you feel led to donate, please know that any amount is received in humility, greatly appreciated and will be used for Dad’s medical expenses and income replacement. Please feel free to share our Go Fund Me and check back often for updates on Dad. Thank you so much for your support and prayers.

May God Bless You.

Much Love,

Ashton Tate Pilcher & the Tate Family
