Zoe World Championships Fundraiser

Zoe is an inspiring, loving, hard working soul who has managed to qualify a spot representing Australia in the upcoming World Triathlon Age Group Championships in Spain this September 2023.
To compete is proving to be an expensive affair.  We want to help ease the load and support Zoe to experience this amazing opportunity.  Read on for a bit more backstory….

Zoe Azzopardi was not much of a sporty kid growing up, but recently found a love for competition and exercise. Having done her first triathlon in 2019, she enjoyed it so much she never looked back.

It was just meant to be a hobby in between music, work and study; however, triathlon soon became a healthy addiction. In December 2022, Zoe was offered the inaugural Pen Slater Send It Scholarship, endorsed by professional Ironman athlete Penny Slater. This scholarship has given Zoe some great opportunities, including meeting other great athletes, being supported by Pen Slater’s sponsors and receiving mentorship and coaching from Pen Slater herself. This ignited a greater passion for the sport and encouraged Zoe to go further.

Zoe completed her first ever Olympic Distance Triathlon in February this year. The Standard (or Olympic) Distance Triathlon consists of a 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run. Although she was disappointed with her time, she “accidentally” qualified for the World Triathlon Championships in Pontevedra, Spain, this September by finishing third place in this race. This was quite a shock but the excitement began. She then competed in a final qualifying race at the end of March, shaving 17 minutes off her initial time, securing her place in the Australian Team for the World Triathlon Age Group Championships.

Zoe will be jetting off to Spain with her father Brendan at the end of September to represent Australia. While she is grateful for this amazing opportunity, the trip is entirely self-funded, including flights, accommodation, race uniform, race entry and support fees. Trying to fly a bike to Spain is difficult (and expensive) at the best of times!

As a young, full-time student, Zoe is not able to compete in the green and gold in Spain without some financial assistance.

Every little bit of support is greatly appreciated for Zoe and her family.
