Zoey Stabbed in the Chest (Medical Bills)

Our dear friend Zoey was at the skate park she frequents when she was involved in an altercation with a 44-year-old man who was sexually preying on a 16-year-old girl. Zoey spoke up to protect the minor when this self-proclaimed pedofile produced a knife and stabbed her in her chest. Before stabbing her, this man continually hollered transphobic and homophobic slurs toward her. Zoey's incredibly brave friends ran after the suspect, tracking him down until police arrived. Police then took him into custody, where he remains.
Zoey is the last person who deserved to be the victim of such a heinous act. Zoey has a heart of pure gold and a spirit that cannot be broken. Zoey has volunteered many hours of her own time working to help protect minors. In fact, Zoey has served for Stand Up for Kids as a Crisis Intervention Specialist: utilizing skills and situational awareness to de-escalate and reduce the severity and consequences associated with violent natured individuals. Zoey's immediate reaction to putting a stop to pedofilia came naturally to her. The suspect acted very quickly and with no regard for human life, so unfortunately Zoey's experience could not prevent the stabbing.
Sweet Zoey was taken to the ICU and is in critical condition after having surgery on her chest and twelve blood transfusions. She has been through so much and her hospital bills continue to soar as she undergoes 24/7 care, testing, and procedures. She lost a massive amount of blood and remains in an indescribable amount of pain as her wound heals and her body continues to regulate from the colossal aftermath of such an event. Sadly, Zoey is also experiencing a great deal of PTSD as she lies in critical condition.
In her free time, Zoey loves photography with a collection of more than 10,000 photos, and playing with her cat: Mable. She really enjoys spending time with friends and hanging out at the very skate park that the incident occurred. There has been such an outpouring of love and joy to celebrate her life and continuing to exist on this Earth. She hopes to utilize this as an example for the future for people to think before they act.
