Zora's Blue Lake International Trip
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Zora Alfredson and I'm a freshman at East Lansing High School in East Lansing, Michigan. In 6th grade I joined band for the first time on French horn and quickly grew to love the instrument and band itself. I've made many great accomplishments with my music over the past few years including making 5th chair in Michigan's Middle School All State Band and receiving an invitation to play in Michigan State University's Spartan Youth Wind Symphony for the 2018-19 school year. I am in the ELHS Marching Band on mellophone and their Symphonic Band on French horn.
My interest in music, along with encouragement from my parents, led me to decide to attend Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. I have been a camper for three summers playing in their Concert and Symphonic bands. Blue Lake offered me an opportunity to join the Southern Winds International Exchange Program for Summer 2019. The trip will take 80 band students to France, Spain and Germany over the course of 4 weeks. The Southern Winds participate in the Blue Lake in France Program where they are joined by about 30 French student musicians for a 5 day residency. We will stay with host families along the way and perform in concert halls and cathedrals. I'm very excited to be participating in the experience of a lifetime.
In order to make this tour possible for me I am asking for community support to fund this amazing opportunity.
How does the cost break down? First, I will spend one week at Blue Lake for intensive rehearsals to prepare for the tour. After that, the bulk of the expenses go to international plane travel, food, lodging, ground transportation, and uniforms.
It's safe to say it's an expensive trip. My parents and I have come up with a few ways to off-set the costs, but ultimately this Go Fund Me campaign is my best means to reach all of you around the world. I will be so grateful for any donation, big or small, that would help me achieve my goals and further my musical education.
Please share the link with your friends and music lovers! The more views the better.
