Help make a Baby Cannon IVF Fund

Once upon a time, Nicole and I (Sean) met in our old New Jersey high school town. You’ll never believe it, but we got hitched!!

Way back when I was 18 months old, I was diagnosed with Wilmes Tumor. After years of Chemotherapy and radiation, I was cancer free thanks to the doctors at the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia. Growing up, I knew there was a possibility that I could not have a child of my own.

Fast forward, Nicole and I met in 2012. We both knew we wanted children and I was always open about the fact that there was a possibility I could not have one. In 2017, everything I was told was true. I knew it could happen, but it still broke our hearts. We discussed adoption, but the cost was out of our range. In the meantime, we decided to become foster parents. Since we could not have kids of our own, we wanted to help other children who needed a loving family. After our move to Vermont, we had two beautiful kids who came and went and then another two little twins. As much as we would have loved to adopt them, reunification was always the main plan.

During our foster parenting, I met with a specialist in Boston who believed he could help by performing a testicular sperm extraction (TESE). Nicole and I saved and went through with the surgery, but to no avail. I struggled with both the physical and mental pain, but having our foster kids and a strong loving wife helped me persevere. However, it gets harder to see our foster children come, grow, and go.

With the salaries we had in Vermont, we knew we could not afford any further procedures. Nicole and I moved closer to our families and currently reside in Philadelphia. Yep, right back where the doctors saved my life. Thanks to the Samfund Foundation, they provided a small grant to help us cover the cost of a donor. We went through with Artificial Insemination, but with the lower success rate, this did not work either.

Although we just finished our Philadelphia foster courses, our doctors believe that IVF would be the best option to grow our family. Unfortunately, we have run out of funds to move forward with the procedure. We know it is possible for us to get pregnant and we know we will regret it if we stop without giving pregnancy everything we have.

That is why we are here… and we hope that is why you are as well: to help us grow our family by donating and/or sharing this campaign with others who would be willing to support us.

Cost breakdown

We are working with RMA of Philadelphia to hopefully proceed with IVF. With some coverage from Nicole’s job, the base cost of the procedure is $12,000. This covers the egg retrievals, fertilization of the embryos, storage, and implementation into the uterus. This does not include the cost of embryo testing, sperm donor and storage ($2,000), and specialty medication ($5,000-7,000).

Insurance only covers some of the medication. Nicole and I are contributing for the medication and donor costs. We do not have enough to close the gap and move forward with the procedure. That is why we are asking you to please donate and share this campaign who would be willing to support the growth of our family.
