Hi, world. This isn't how I wanted us to meet.
We're a DINK+Cat family on the brink of financial ruin through no fault of our own. We, like many people our age, tried to buy a home to finally set down roots and grow. We took all the right steps: we went out, found a real estate agent, found a house, got a mortgage secured, got insurance, got the house inspected, and through a lot of hard work made the dream a reality. Over the past month, that dream has turned into a nightmare.

It started with a slowly-draining sink. We call plumbers, who discover that our main sewer line is the culprit. 5k to fix it. We can handle that. But as the project continues, more and more things are found. It wasn't JUST that our sewer line was wrecked: we had pipes under our basement floor that had disintegrated into nothing, we had bursts, we had sewage leaking under our stairs. None of THIS was on our inspection report: the best we got was that ONE pipe had been "improperly repaired". Suddenly the project goes from 5k to 40k. Then 60k. Then they have to tear up the sidewalk outside our house. Before we knew it, our emergency repair bill had ballooned to 126k! That's more than we paid for our initial house buy!

You probably saw that I mentioned "got insurance" in the intro to this post. And we've contacted them. And contacted them. And again. And again. As if there wasn't enough on our plate, our insurance has passed us around to 4 different agents, all of which refuse to pick up the phone. I've had to scrounge up every last penny of my life's savings to even try to cover it in the event the insurance doesn't, and I'm still coming up short. If we get taken to court by the plumbing team, that's even more uncertainty on top of everything else.
So now here we are. We either get this all sorted by March 7th, or me, my girlfriend, and our lovely cat are out on the streets. We are running out of options at a rapid pace, and we need all the help you can give. 100% of funds are going toward this repair.
Please. Help us.
