#KariStrong - FUND RAISER TO HELP FAMILY
Donation protected
Unfortunately most of you know by now that Kari lost her battle to MDS and Leukemia (AML).
She fought hard for many years. We are left with many memories of her bright smile, friendship, love she spread to all of those that crossed her path.
However after this long battle the family was left with pain of a tremendous loss as well as many bills and an intense financial burden. We ask that you help the family financially to cover the medical bills after 1 month in ICU, funeral expenses as Kari did not have any type of life insurance as well as pay that Tony did not receive while supporting his wife during treatment and supporting his kids during funeral preparation and grief period. The kids will also incur expenses going forward for tasks that normally were performed by Kari.
Thank you for helping the family out on this very difficult time.
I will leave the original write up below so you can better understand the family's needs.
As most of you know Kari Ross Suppnick has been battling MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome) for over 6yrs. We knew at the time of diagnosis that she would need a bone marrow transplant one day, immediately a search for a donor started.
Kari is adopted from Korea so her parents are not a match. Kari's match will most likely be a Korean as your marrow is linked to your DNA. The registry today does not have a lot of Asian donors. Which has made Kari's search for a donor more challenging.
Kari was in remission for about 5yrs but the search for the donor never stopped. Unfortunately, in the past 12 months her MDS has worsen (no longer in remission) and most recently transformed into Leukemia.
In the last 12 months Kari's life has transformed into many trips to doctors, multiple hospitals, blood transfusions, and platelets transfusions. She has become weak and not able to do the day to day activities that she enjoys. In addition she hasn't really been able to work for the last 6 months.
Most recently Kari was admitted to the hospital after a Bone Marrow Biopsy. She has been in critical condition for about 3 weeks now and continue to fight for her life. During this time she is in constant need of platelets, it takes 5 donors to make a bag of platelets for Kari. In the last 3 weeks she has received over 120 bags of platelets. This takes a lot of donation.
Tony, her husband, is an amazing man and Kari's true soulmate. Unfortunately his job does not give him any paid time off. Therefore whenever Tony needs to support Kari on doctors appointments, hospital stays or anything else it means that he forgoes his pay so he can support his wife.
Your donation is appreciated, every dollar counts. It will help the family cover Kari's medical bills, loss income since Kari hasn't been able to work, Tony's lost income when he is supporting his wife and expenses related to the kids that are now incurred since Kari is not able to cook, or help the kids at this time.
You may also donate platelets anywhere in Michigan or US. Even though the platelet donation is not directed when you help the overall supply of platelets (which is currently low) you help free up more platelets for Kari (she needs them to continue to fight for her life while we still find a donor). Kari needs those platelets daily.
Kari is a fighter and she will continue to fight. We will continue to pray and support the family in any way possible. Your support is greatly appreciated. God Bless!
