Duffle Bags for Foster Kids

Hi all, my name is George Atala and I am a Life Scout with Troop 755 in Northville MI. For my Eagle project, I had a choice between a conservation/building theme or a service theme. I decided to do a project that impacts someone's life in our community now.

In Michigan we have about 14000 foster kids, that are moved from home to home. They own nothing and they are given only a garbage bag to transport the few clothes they have. 8000 foster kids are in Wayne County. I am currently working with Michigan Department of  Health and Human Services MDHHS to provide 150 foster kids with their own duffle bag that contains a blanket, a teddy Bear, a tooth brush and a coloring book. Something that they can call their own.

Each bag cost $25 and my goal is to raise $4K. My ultimate goal is to have an organization eventually fund enough bags to cover all 14000 kids, but for now I can only focus on what I can impact.
