Ashley Valenzuela

Hi! My name is Kathy Williams. I am a long-time friend of Ashley and Shanna (Ashley's mother) Valenzuela.

By God's grace, Ashley Valenzuela was given the ultimate gift of life when she was eight years old and needed a kidney transplant to replace the singular kidney she was born with that was failing.

She was then diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 12 years old and has been in constant battle with her blood glucose levels ever since. She suffered extreme highs and lows that were intense and difficult to regulate. These dramatic changes in her blood sugar ultimately put a strain on her kidney. Thus, creating the need for a pancreas transplant.

Ashley underwent her second organ transplant on February 23, 2022. The surgery was a success, but the road to recovery will be nothing short of difficult.

For the next three months, Ashley and her mother will have to take 4+ hour-long drives round-trip to Loma Linda Hospital twice a week. Following those three months, Ashley and Shanna will have to continue taking trips to Loma Linda once a week.

4 a.m. wake-up calls and extensive road trips twice a week with the increased gas prices are adding to the difficult recovery process. In addition, due to the extensive recovery process, Shanna will not be able to work her regular hours for the following six months, furthering the difficulties for the Valenzuela family.

Donations would help Ashley and her family pay for gas and take care of occasional hotel accommodations

when the 4 a.m. wake-up calls are unbearable. Anything helps and is greatly appreciated.

In her short 26 years of life, Ashley has endured countless medical complications and surgeries. Throughout her extensive and never-ending medical battles, Ashley has been the pillar of strength.
