Holistic Trauma Support for Asylum Seekers

Donation protected
Casa de Paz SLV provides holistic trauma support to asylum seekers and new immigrants.

Our program, Sembrando Salud Mental (Cultivating Mental Health) provides holistic trauma support services with yoga, qigong, meditation, art therapy, counseling, music therapy and massage to asylum seekers and new immigrants at the border of Mexico and the US. We are also serving virtually in the Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Malawi, Africa, in partnerhip with MUTU.org.

When we serve in person, we provide healthy snacks and drinks during our program times and provide basic needs donations. We recognize that the brain can transform trauma better once basic needs are met.

We have a private facebook group, a youtube channel with trauma support practices, and we provide private online support chats and groups with licensed social workers. We also offer in person private sessions and 3 - 10 day retreats in Colorado. These retreats now include equine therapy!

In 2022, we received an international humanitarian award from The International Association of Yoga Therapists and The Give Back Yoga Foundation.

We host an annual webinar called Emotional Wholeness: Holistic Trauma Support for Asylum Seekers, New Immigrants and Refugees. This webinar is for nonprofits and allies.

We also taught a 4 week virtual Share Yoga program for unaccompanied minors in a large US shelter at the border of Texas and Mexico. We served 130 and plan to apply for grants with this shelter to continue this service. We hope to share therapeutic art and yoga with the teens in the future.

All our practitioners are certified, licensed and have basic to complete Spanish fluency. All volunteers go through an application, interview, reference check and training process. We are currently seeking practitioners who are also fluent in French and Swahili to assist our clients from Haiti and those in Africa.

Casa de Paz SLV is a 501c3. We need help from private donors, corporate sponsors and faith based donors like yourself. Help provide mental health support for families waiting months for a court date to share their asylum case. They are caught between two evils with only their neighbors to assist them. Our clients in Africa struggle with hunger, high suicide rates and very little hope for resettlement.

Funds will be used for donated art and yoga supplies, basic needs items that are donated, healthy drinks and snacks, body work supplies, paying stipends to team practitioners, administrative and travel costs.

When we serve, we always acknowledge the generosity of donors like you. We know we couldn't provide this service without your help. Asylum Seekers are vulnerable and your assistance makes their immigration journey a bit more bearable. It provides hope. Thank you.
