Flood Fund

So as all of you know, my parents have lived in Ramona since I was 3 years old (my entire life). We have only lived in two different houses. When they chose to move in this house, it happened to be less than a mile up the street from our house that we were living in at the time.

My parents loving, giving people and would help anyone in a heartbeat. This is tragic that this has happened, especially 5 days before my wedding. Like.. we aren't running around trying to prepare for this once in a life time event.

San Diego doesn't get much rain EVER. This gave a whole new meaning to "when it rains, it pours". When I got the call from my mom saying that the house was destroyed, I couldn’t believe it. The entire bottom level of the house is ruined. The driveway, the pool, all  of the yard, the garage, the tile in the kitchen, the wood throughout the house, the carpet in the living room, all of the furniture.. Completely ruined. Unfortunately, my dad contacted the insurance and nothing is covered. We lived in San Diego, why would we need flood insurance?

Thankfully we did have friends and family come over and do what they could to dig out some of the mud with a shovel. They dug out tons of mud from the garage and they were able to get my dad’s car out, which is not running so smoothly, due to the mud getting in the engine. The driveway has at least 4 feet of dirt that is now being shoveled out with a machine. We are slowly making progress, but as far as the things that need to be remodeled and replaced.. We need all the help we can get.
