SCHUYLER ARAKAWA
Donation protected
Friends, family, everyone and anyone,
Our dear Schuyler, as many have already seen, was in an extremely serious accident yesterday and is currently in critical condition, fighting for her life in San Gil, Colombia.
While on a rafting excursion yesterday, a very large rock fell from about 30 feet above where she was swimming, landing directly on Schuyler's head and causing a veritable laundry list of near fatal injuries. The most serious of which are grave fractures and trauma to the skull and face, lung damage and five fractured vertebrae in her spine. Its a God-given miracle not only that we were able to evacuate her to the nearest hospital quickly enough, but that she survived at all.
Schuyler underwent multiple surgeries this afternoon and although being monitored 24/7 overnight in the ICU, we have been told that until her condition stabilized in the coming days, we only have our prayers. We cannot express our gratitude that she has been attended to, and is being cared for, by a very capable medical staff and that they will keep us informed of any and all updates until we're able to be with her again in the hospital tomorrow morning. Her mother, Meridith Hankenson, and sister, Saya Arakawa, have reached Colombia and are with her now.
We are currently trying to raise funds to cover the expense of having her medically air-ambulanced from Colombia to Miami, Florida, as well as donations to cover all medical expenses not covered by insurance.
Thank you everyone for any donations and prayers that you can provide.
On behalf of Schuyler's family and friends we are so incredibly appreciative.
