Scott Zurn was diagnosed with an aggressive form of renal cancer in February. When it was discovered it has already moved into his lymph nodes and lungs. Initial treatment cleared up his lungs in the next couple of months, allowing Scott some relief and a fairly good May to August timeframe where he could almost return to the normal activities he enjoyed.
However, it continued to progress in his lymphatic system, spreading throughout his body and necessitating an escalation of treatment. For most of September and October, Scott was in-and-out of the hospital with growing pain and side effects from his treatment. On Monday the 19th, he was released from Regions hospital back to his house to receive hospice care. There he was greeted and surrounded by his siblings and family. On Tuesday he received visits from many friends, very lucid and conversational, and got to enjoy a large car parade of kids he had coached in the past who made signs for him and welcomed him home.
After that very long, but loving day enjoyed with his friends and family, Scott passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, October 21st with his family by his side.
Although he no longer walks this world with us, he will forever be remembered as a strong and kind leader, coach and family man. #ZurnStrong
This memorial will be transferred to his family in hopes of reducing the financial strain caused by his illness and death.
